Cookie policy – Kiwibettingsites
A site that compares betting providers for New Zealand still needs a few technical tools to run, and Kiwibettingsites keeps them to a minimum. This policy states which cookies and similar technologies operate, what they do and how they can be refused or altered. Cookies are small text files that a browser keeps on a device; local and session storage and counting pixels behave similarly.
Governing law
Where cookies and similar tools collect personal information, the Privacy Act 2020 governs, through the information privacy principles of section 22. Collection serves a lawful purpose linked to operating the site (IPP 1), and people are told what is collected and why (IPP 3). Security safeguards protect the information (IPP 5), it is held no longer than necessary (IPP 9), and disclosure outside New Zealand follows IPP 12. A choice made in the banner can be altered at any time.
Files needed to operate
Without these files the site would not work dependably. They maintain a session, balance load across servers, protect forms from abuse and store the cookie choice. No separate choice is requested for them. Session files lapse when the browser closes, and the stored choice survives at most twelve months.
Functional and analytics files
Functional files remember settings, for example which comparison table was opened last. Analytics files tally page views and show which pages are read, for the sake of improving content. A banner choice is required before either group is set. IP addresses are shortened for analysis, and no profile following behaviour across other sites is built.
Files set by other parties
An embedded service such as a video or map can set files of its own, and its provider’s privacy rules apply on top; an objection is directed to that provider. Kiwibettingsites does not set advertising cookies that build personalised-ad profiles without a clear banner choice.
Refusing or altering the choice
A visitor can change or withdraw consent at any moment through "Cookie settings" in the footer, and withdrawal works for the future. Browsers separately allow cookies to be blocked and deleted. Once necessary files are deleted, the banner comes back and some features may pause briefly.
Complaints
Complaints about the handling of personal information go to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The privacy policy of this site describes how such information is handled.
